Faith's Big Girl Room - Big Ideas...

When my mom was here last week for Faith's party we went to the neighborhood rummage sale. We got a lot of great stuff - all for Faith of course! One of the items we got was a Pottery Barn look-alike headboard and footboard. It is blue and we are going to paint it a soft cream. It is absolutely the most perfect bed set and was exactly what I had in mind. The best part was that it was.....are you ready......$15.00. Yes! just fifteen dollars. A similar set on PBK's retails for $749.00. I LOVE a good bargin and the bed being cute just makes it a homerun.

So hopefully, baby number 2 will arrive sometime next year. Faith will be two then (hard to believe she'll be a walking, talking toddler), and will be at the right age to move out of the nursery and into her big girl bedroom. Her new room will be Derek's current office, and his office will move into the dog room. Derek's office is painted a really soothing shade of green, so my mom and I have decided to do a pink and green shabby chic room.

The walls are going to stay green, and the furniture will be cream. We will do bedding and accents in pink. Here are some pics of accessroies I have found online that have the feeling of what we plan on doing... (Above, this is what her bed will look like painted...)

(I love the flowers on that duvet cover, paired with a soft pink quilt...)

(A sparkly, vintage-looking chandelier in her room would be so lovely...
... or maybe a butterfly chandelier...)

(I like this nightstand, but I would replace the nob with a crystal one maybe like pink butterfly one below...)

(I would pair this table lamp with a pink shade...)

(I was thinking that I could paint a decorative pink box on the wall and place Faith's initals inside it or these beautiful butterfly mirrors....)

(I LOVE this rug!)

Faith's big girl room would be big enough for her bed and a little play space. I thought I could get her a vintage kitchenette set from Target)

My mom bought this table set for Faith for $8.00. A love of bargins runs in the family! I think we will paint the top of the table pink and add a vintage rose in the center. I can already picture having tea parties at this table.

Well, what do you think? I think this will become the most perfect little girl's room any little princess could ever want!!!

Faith's First Birthday

We had a wonderful time celebrating Faith's first birthday with family and friends. The day was a little windy, but overall we had great weather. Four friends with young children came. My mom and Derek's mom were there, and Faith's birthfamily came as well. So, we had a total of about seventeen people at the park, including the birthday girl.

We enjoyed ice cream cone cupcakes, fruit salad, pb & j sandwhiches, cheese sticks, dog bone sugar cookies, and juice boxes and lemonaide. Faith was a surprisingly clean birthday cake eater.

Entertainment included climbing trees, crawling in the grass, teeter-tot rides, swinging, trips down the slide, and holding balloons. It was a perfect first birthday for an extra special birthday.

After the party, we took Faith's birthfamily out to a family dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants , Brooklyn Grill. We had a fantastic visit. We feel so blessed to have such a great relationship with Faith's birthfamily and are so happy to have them be a continued part of Faith's life.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!!

So Behind...

Since the weather in Wisconsin has finally agreed to support the fact that it is actually soon to be summer here, we have been very active outside. Lots of walks and family bike rides. I've gotten totally behind on posting as a result! I will try and update tomorrow with pics from Faith's first birthday, and I got some cute shots of the dogs all snuggled up together. Oh! And, my mom and I are planning Faith's big girl bedroom for her to move into next year when hopefully baby number 2 comes along. So adorable that we want to move into it too! I'll post some pics of our inspiration pieces for her room.

I'll post again soon. Promise!

Zoo-ventures

We took Faith to the Milwaukee Zoo yesterday for the very first time. We met some friends from Chicago there and spent the day hanging out. It was such a lovely day and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. Faith enjoyed the animals, but she was an avid people watcher! We saw lions and tigers, elephants, giraffes, peacocks, bears, gorillas and monkeys! After the zoo we went to lunch at Saz's, which had really good barbeque. We then went on a tour of the Miller Milwaukee Brewery. Boy does Faith weigh a lot when you have to carry her for an hour ;-) What a happy day we had!!!!

Silly Goose

So the other day, I was cooking dinner. Faith was my "assistant," which means that she was supervising me from her highchair while she enjoyed a snack. I was washing bell peppers and she thought it was hilarious when I shook them over the sink to dry them off. I just had to capture it on film. Her laughter is the sunshine in our home :-) Pardon the shaking camera...I was enticing her to continue to laugh by shaking a red pepper. (P.S. Pause the music at the bottom of the page to hear her.)
